Sculpture

2023–present

 

I found the Avocet along the LA River—a living force in a river that seemed to be dying.

 

I chose aluminum mesh for its contemporary, urban, and reflective quality. Yet the sculpture is not solid. Air and light pass through the mesh, allowing the bird to emerge through transparency, shadow, and space.

 

The Avocet has since traveled through several invited installations, echoing the movement of a migratory bird.
